Florence Natural Hazard Evaluations
Florence, South Carolina
Services:
- Natural Hazard Assessments
- Construction cost estimation
Tasks:
- Evaluation of 10 buildings for wind, seismic, and flood events
- Tier I screening
Project Description:
Lindbergh & Associates conducted natural hazard evaluations of critical facilities in Florence, SC, recommended rehabilitation schemes, and provided cost estimates for the different structures. A total of ten facilities were evaluated including:
-
2 public works buildings (one of them is twelve stories tall)
-
4 fire stations
-
2 schools that are also used as shelters
-
1 water treatment facility
-
1 wastewater treatment facility
The facilities were evaluated for wind, seismic, and flood events in accordance with the International Building Code 2000. The information from this report was then used to prioritize rehabilitations that are much needed. L&A used a Tier I evaluation to quickly and economically determine what parts of the facilities need to be rehabilitated (structural and nonstructural) and how much such rehabilitations cost.
An engineering report presenting all findings was prepared and formally presented to the City of Florence.
