History

Charles Lindbergh & Associates was founded in 1982 by Air Force COL (RET) Charles A. Lindbergh, PE, PhD. For approximately two decades, Dr. Charles Lindbergh presided over this engineering firm, practicing general structural engineering, while he also led national, southeast regional, and state efforts to mitigate natural hazards through technology based improvements of building codes. Dr. Lindbergh was considered an expert in his field by his colleagues and has numerous publications and awards to his name.

Dr. Charles Lindbergh had over 40 years experience at all levels in structural engineering. For 20 years, he was a civil engineering officer in the U.S. Air Force. His assignments included teaching at the Air Force Academy; service in Vietnam on General Westmoreland’s staff; technical and program management of all NATO Air Force airfield construction throughout Europe; and provided engineering assistance to Air Force organizations worldwide as Deputy for Engineering and Planning at the Air Force Civil Engineering Center. Following his Air Force service, he held positions at the Citadel including professor, Civil Engineering Department Head, and Associate Dean of Engineering Program Development. Dr. Lindbergh passed away in 2002. In February 2003, Lindbergh & Associates, LLC was organized as a Woman Owned Limited Liability Company (LLC) in the state of South Carolina. The Firm was the successor to Charles Lindbergh & Associates. Lindbergh & Associates, LLC was formed with Mrs. Russell Lindbergh and O’Brien & Gere as a partnership. The firm continued to provide structural engineering services and expanded services by providing land surveying, and civil engineering support to its clients.

In November 2005, US Army LTC (RET) James A. "Tony" Price assumed majority ownership of Lindbergh & Associates, LLC and the firm transitioned to a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, and Minority Owned Small Business. As a former student of Dr. Lindbergh, Tony's desire was to see the history and tradition of this great firm not only continue, but grow. Tony brings 23 years of active duty service with the Corp of Engineers serving in leadership positions up to the General Staff level. Under his leadership, the firm added architectural capabilities in 2006, land planning and landscape architecture in 2008, and continues to expand.

In December 2011, O'Brien & Gere purchased the remaining ownership of Lindebergh & Associates, and the company is now a wholly-owned subsidiary.
